My Experience
My hardships with mental illness were truly a catalyst on my self-improvement journey. After recovering from depression and eating disorders, I moved from Detroit to Boulder, Colorado to continue my self exploration and study at the Buddhist- inspired Naropa University. Here I obtained a degree in Psychology of Health and Healing and completed classes such as Approaches to Healing, Buddhist Psychology, and Learning from Trauma. Meditation became a daily practice for me and I discovered much about mindfulness, self-awareness, and being present. Along side my degree I earned my Yoga Teacher Certification, RYT-500. In addition to completing 1100 hours of yoga training, I studied Yoga History, Theory, and Philosophy, Anatomy, and Nutrition. My experience at Naropa truly showed me the power of the body-mind connection and transformed my life into one joy, abundance, and gratitude. (I also wrote a bangin' senior thesis on non-appearance based identity- check it out in the link below.)
After graduating, I worked in a naturopathic doctor's office for a while before continuing on to be a Program Director for Brain Balance, a holistic healing program for childhood learning/behavioral issues.
Forever thirsty for personal growth, I decided to expand my health and wellness knowledge with a Holistic Health Coach Certification from the Health Coach Institute. It was here that I knew I had truly found my calling. It was here that I learned a systematic approach to share my passion for health and wellness with others.
My journey and experience have truly brought me a life full of happy, healthy vibes. I enjoy a natural, organic diet free from sugar, gluten, dairy, and soy. I would describe my diet as a mix of vegan/paleo. Eating this way has cleared my acne, regulated my digestion, and boosted my energy and mood. When not working, you can find me in the gym, doing yoga, outside, cooking, reading, or creating.
